Authorization Capacity

By: Mike Ye x Ella (AI)

Authorization Capacity — The amount and scope of consequential action an institution can delegate to AI while retaining enforceable permissions, oversight, interruption, attribution, and recovery.

Authorization Capacity is an emerging sub-dimension of the Alignment force. It asks how much of an agent’s technical capability an institution can responsibly permit to become action.

Decision rule

  • Specify the actor, task, resources, spending or modification limits, and authorizing party.
  • Check whether permissions are enforced at the action boundary and can be withdrawn.
  • Verify monitoring, attribution, escalation, interruption, and recovery using evidence from the deployment.
  • Record the model and permission regime separately when comparing task outcomes.

A capability benchmark is not an authorization assessment. A signed identity is not permission to act. This concept does not add a fifth force, change Four Forces weights, or provide a universal numerical score.
